Ing. Saviour Baldacchino occupied the position of Vice President of the Chamber of Engineers for the past five year, before which, he held the post of President for a four-year term. Under his leadership, various new initiatives to revamp the Chamber were undertaken. For the past seven years, he co-represented Civil Society on MEUSAC’s core group. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta.
Saviour is Board Director at MITA, and Executive Director at Enemalta plc. He was engaged in the private practice between 2004 and 2014 during which he founded ICT Systems Engineering. In 2001, he had a key role in the setting up of a new Internet Service Provider which he led as its CEO until 2004. Before joining the private sector, he occupied the post of General Manager for Information Systems & Technology at Maltacom plc, where he formed part of top management since 1985. There he pioneered information technology since 1990, formed part of the Business Development Board Advisory team, was entrusted to set up Skytel (Malta) and acted as a Board Director of Maltanet. Saviour represented Malta on the EU Euro-med Information Society Steering Committee for two years and had various roles in other EU projects.
In 2005, Saviour was awarded Best ICT Professional in Malta for lifetime achievement. Between 2013 and 2017, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Engineering Profession Board. He acquired a Masters in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship, a Diploma in Business Management and followed continuous professional education in Malta and abroad.
