|CoE participating in MCCAA Committee on National Standard for PV systems|
The CoE has expressed its concern about the quality, reliability and safety of the PV installations being installed in Malta. Consequently it had commissioned Ing. Tony Muscat and Ing. Ray Vassallo to prepare a draft Code of Practice (COP), which would guide owners, engineers and installers on how these installations should be set up. The objective was that this COP would be forwarded to the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) for accreditation.
Subsequently, the Malta Resources Authority (MRA) circulated an electric circuit diagram of a recommended typical installation, also airing certain concerns about the protection of users and people who might be maintaining these systems.
The information circulated by the MRA was acted upon by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority who organised a meeting for stakeholders. Ing. Muscat and Ing. Vassallo, who attended the meeting on behalf of the CoE will be participating in the working group which will be preparing a draft National Standard.
This turn of events led to the compilation of the relevant document which after being approved by the CoE Council will be forwarded to the Working Group for further deliberation. The standard will then need to be endorsed by the stakeholders before it will be ratified as a National Standard.
