Annual General Meeting Elections

As communicated to you, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held on Friday 16th February 2018. The event will be held at 5.45p.m. at the Professional Centre in Gzira. The undersigned has received five nominations for election on the executive council. The number of vacancies for the upcoming council term will be that of five and hence a formal election will not be held as detailed in the statute of the Chamber of Engineers. Members are still strongly encouraged to attend.


Those members who did not yet pay their membership fee can still attend the AGM provided they renew their membership at the door.


The following is the latest agenda for the AGM:


1. Reading and approval of minutes

2. Matters arising

3. Correspondence

4. President’s address

5. Treasurer’s report

6. Ratification of the post of International Secretary

7. Ratification of legal counsel

8. Motions received

9. Election of Auditors

10. Other matters


The work of the Council during the past years has dealt with various issues which can affect you directly. Your involvement and support is thus highly appreciated. Motion/s should be forwarded to the Chamber’s Secretariat at least one week prior to the AGM for such proposals to be discussed during the meeting.

CoE Annual General Meeting 2018

Re: Annual General Meeting


The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is again around the corner. The importance of this annual meeting cannot be overstated. It gives an opportunity for members to review the operation of the Chamber of Engineers and to elect new members on the executive council.


The AGM will be held on 16th February 2018 at 5.45p.m. In preparation for this, a nomination form is being enclosed which must be duly completed and sent together with a 200 word profile and a passport size photo to the Chamber’s Secretariat by not later than Friday 12th January 2018 in accordance with the statute clause 11.5.


Kindly note that only those members who have paid their 2017 and 2018 membership subscription shall be entitled to vote as stipulated in Clause 11.7 of the statute.  Membership fees will be accepted before the meeting commences.

Student AGM Notification


Dear Student


The Chamber of Engineers will be holding the Annual General Meeting on Friday 16th February 2018 at the Professional Centre, Sliema Road, Gzira at 5:45pm.


According to the Chamber’s statute, an election for a student representative on the CoE council is to be held during the AGM. The term for a student council member is that of one year. Please refer to the CoE statute via www.coe.org.mt.   Enclosed please find a nomination form which must be duly completed and rubber stamped from UESA/MCAST and sent together with a 200 word profile and a passport size photo to the Chamber’s Secretariat by not later than Friday 12th January 2018.  Only paid up students are eligible to vote.

MEEA 2017 Press Release

The Malta Engineering Excellence Awards 2017 – 12th December 2017

PRESS RELEASE: 19th December 2017

The Chamber of Engineers launched the 16th edition of the Malta Engineering Excellence Awards (MEEA) on the evening of the 12th of December 2017. The MEEAs 2017 were held under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta at the Verdala Palace. The MEEA showcased the excellence in engineering innovation and its positive impact on the Maltese society through three different awards:  The Maurice Debono Lifetime Achievement, the Industrial Excellence Awards and the Best Student Projects’ CoE Awards.

An amazing performance by the Harpist Dr Lydia Buttigieg opened the evening. An introduction to the MEEA by Chairman, Ing. Michael D’Amato and a welcome address was then presented by Ing. Norman Zammit, President, Chamber of Engineers.

The Maurice Debono Lifetime Achievement awarded was presented by her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca to Ing. Helga Pizzuto and to Ing. Anton V. Cutajar.

Aviation Cosmetics Malta Ltd, Altern Ltd and Malta Life Sciences Park were the three nominees for the Industrial Excellence Awards. Hon. Chris Agius, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Property Market presented the awards for the Industrial Excellence Awards to the winner, Malta Life Sciences Park.

The Best Student Projects’ CoE Awards were divided into 3 streams;  Mechanical Engineering,  Electrical Engineering and  Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) best project awards.

The nominated students for the Mechanical Engineering Stream were Daniel Aquilina, Marlon Attard and Daniel Farrugia. Rachel Cauchi, Jeanluc Mangion and Geraldine Mifsud were the three nominated students for the best project in the Electrical Engineering Stream. As for ICT, the nominees were Nicholas Bonello, Leander Grech and John Napier.

Hon. Chris Agius, Parliamentary Secretary presented the award to Daniel Farrugia for the Mechanical Stream, Geraldine Mifsud for the Electrical Stream and to John Napier for the ICT stream.

Dr. Ing Glenn Cassar, representing Dr. Ing. Andrew Sammut, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Prof. Ernest Cachia, Dean, Faculty of Information, Communications & Technology at the University of Malta gave encouraging speeches about the students, Industry-Academia collaboration and the impact of engineering in society.

The evening recognised Engineering excellence in Malta and Engineering society and was closed by a reception where winners, nominees, engineers and guests were all invited to attend.

Industrial Excellence Award 2017

The Award winner will be announced during the MEEAs 2017 which are being held under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta on Tuesday 12th December 2017 at the Verdala Palace at 18:15h.  Guests will be requested to be seated on the 2nd level of the palace by 18:45h. A reception will follow on the 1st level of the palace.

Tickets available at €15 per person (€5 will go towards the MCCF). Places are limited.

Tickets must be presented at the entrance.

Parking available in the vicinity of the Palace.

A shuttle service will be organised by the Chamber free of charge by the main gate of the Palace to the main door between 17:45 until 18:40 and later from the main door to the main gate between 22:15 until 23:00

 
MEEA 2017

The Chamber of Engineers is launching the 16th edition of the Malta Engineering Excellence Awards (MEEA).

We are addressing corporate and engineering companies in Malta to obtain their support for this prestigious event. The Chamber of Engineers invites you to participate in this yearly event as a celebration of achievements by the local engineering community. The MEEA showcases the excellence in engineering innovation and its positive impact on the Maltese society.

These awards are actually presented during the Chamber of Engineers annual reception which will be held under the Distinguished Patronage of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta. This year the event will be held at the Verdala Palace  on the evening of the 12th December 2017.

This year two awards will be presented namely The Maurice Debono Lifetime Achievement, and the Industrial Excellence Awards. During the same event, the Best Student Projects’ CoE Awards will also take place. Please refer to the MEEA 2017 brochure for a better understanding of our event for this year.

The Chamber of Engineers would welcome you to participate either as an applicant for the Industrial Excellence Award, or even as sponsor for this year's edition as per the Nomination Form and Sponsorship Packages. The closing date to apply for Award Participation is now extended to 15th November 2017. I trust that you will be interested to partake in this prestigious event. Sponsorship is accepted at even later dates.
